Our Story

I worked on the racetrack for thirty years, as a hotwalker, groomer, and exercise rider. I was also one of the first female jockeys.  The vet I worked for as an assistant for 4 years, was one of the first vets to use accupuncture on the racetrack. Working with this vet, made me begin thinking about alternative treatments. It was cler to me that alternative treatments would be the wave of the future. 

 

I rescued a racehorse that needed two years of stall rest. I started doing what little massage I knew, on him and saw just great improvement, that it starte me on my quest to learn massage and alternative treatments for horses. I saw my rescue go from  2 years of stall rest to being ridden.

 

That quest started 22 years ago. My son Philip, who grew up on the racetrack, has joined me and we are a wonderful team!

About Healing Hands for K-9s

I started Healing Hands For Canines (K-9's) after 10 years of doing equine massage. I was asked by an FBI agent to take a look at her german shepherd who was dying from cancer. I remembered my equine instructor saying that anything you do with a horse also applies to dogs. I began to massage the german shepherd. He was a little apprehensive at first but after a just a few minutes, he was puddy in my hands. This confirmed that I was good at canine massage also. I really enjoy working on (and healing) dogs as well. It's a magical experience to watch mans best friend go from a state of hurt and pain to comfort and ease with my tried and true treatments.
